Battle of Saratoga

  • The Battle of Saratoga was on October 7th, 1777.
  • It occurred at Saratoga County, New York.
  • The British and Americans both started with 6,600 soldiers each.
  • In the end The British lost 6,200 soldiers (5,900 prisoners, and 300 killed) while 370 were wounded.
  • The Americans lost a total of 30 soldiers, while 100 were wounded.

This was very bad for the British because they were better trained and more equipped than the Americans. Over all The Battle of Saratoga was the turning point of the war and showed everyone that the Americans actually had a chance to win their freedom. Later the French decided to join to help the Americans.
